Lead Pastor
Daniel “DJ” Jansson
DJ and his wife Crista are southeast LA natives. They got married in 2008 and planted Imago Dei Church in 2015. Together they have five awesome kids. DJ loves basketball, good coffee, and he eats two bowls of cereal every day. More than anything, DJ loves Jesus and wants to proclaim his glory to the world. He is passionate about preaching the Bible, planting churches, and raising up leaders who will help make Jesus known!
Community Pastor
Guillermo “Memo” Parra
Memo is passionate about seeing men and women of all ages live in light of the Gospel. Memo makes sure that people get connected into the life of the church, and that the life of our church is connected with our communities. He and his wife Espie have four kids and two grandkids. Memo loves Panda Express, is a pretty good dancer, and once played Danny Zuko in a Spanish rendition of Grease.
Executive Administrator to the Pastors
Krisandra Medina
Krisandra oversees the logistical workings of the church so that nothing stops the good news of Jesus being proclaimed. She makes sure worship runs smoothly, serve-teams are communicated with, and the bills are paid. She and her husband Mark have a beautiful daughter and they love to travel and dream about seeing churches planted from south east LA to the nations. Also, if you own a pug... please let her pet it.
Family Life Director
Edwin Martinez
Edwin is passionate about kids and teens knowing the good news of Jesus. Edwin leads the faith and leadership club “Compass on Campus” which meets at every Downey middle school. He and his wife Emely live in Downey. If you go to any city event you will likely see them and they will almost certainly take a selfie with you.
Kids Director
John Logie
John carries a sense of wonder about God’s world with him wherever he goes. He loves to awaken that same sense of wonder in kids and to partner with families to help them follow Jesus together. He is married to Carla and they share a love for music, board games, and tea (which is not coffee). If you’ve ever seen a grown man with a lightsaber from Star Wars and wondered “What’s their deal?” that man was probably John Logie and you can just ask him to his face next time.
Pastor/Elder
Joshua Roberts
Joshua (not Josh) loves to help remind people of their value, that is intrinsically built into their imago dei, especially those who might be easily overlooked or undervalued. During the work week, he does this by working to provide housing to those experiencing homelessness. Joshua serves our church as a lay elder, as well as leading a Gospel Community and serving on the Hospitality Team. Joshua’s favorite pastime is spending time with his wife Robyn and their three kiddos, and sometimes playing D&D. Joshua can be found cheering for the TN Vols in the fall and as he says, the Dodgers the rest of the year (he’s just jealous that baseball has so many more games).
