Serving at Imago Dei

Serving Opportunities

Hospitality

God, in Christ, has welcomed us into the family while we were far off. We welcome one another in the same way. This team tangibly demonstrates the love of God to everyone who comes to worship.

Task(s)

  • Serve as a greeter at the door.

  • Put out signs for parking

  • Prepare communion

  • Prepare refreshments

  • Warmly welcoming everyone who enters

Time Commitment

One worship gathering, Two-Three times a month.

Sound & Media

All things done should be done to the glory of God and therefore with excellency, which is why we have a designated audio/visual team. This team provides reliably clear sound for church services and special events, records sermons for web upload, and helps the church worship by preparing and running the slides each week.

Task(s)

  • Running the soundboard: work with the preacher as well as the music team to ensure that sound is clear, at an appropriate volume, and recorded for online upload.

  • Slide preparation: assemble the slide show with the data received from the worship planner for a particular worship gathering.

  • Slide presentation: work with the music leader and preacher to ensure accurate presentation of the content of a worship service.

Time Commitment

Twice a month from 7 AM until 30 minutes after our worship gathering.

Imago Dei Kids

This team works to help kids hear of God’s greatness and respond in worship and wonder. They create an environment where parents/guardians can be assured that their kids are cared for and taught about Jesus. Our hope is that every child might experience the power of the gospel of grace.

Task(s)

  • Take care of infants and toddlers in the nursery during the worship time.

  • Teach age appropriate lessons from the Gospel Project for grades K-2 or 3rd-5th.

  • Assist a teacher in a class for K-2 or 3rd-5th.

Time commitment

Typically one worship gathering, twice a month.

Food Pak

One of the ways we tangibly impact our community is by bringing boxes of food to our neighbors in need. These boxes contain enough non-perishable groceries to feed a family of four for one week.

Tasks

Scheduling  time to visit with a family, bringing them food, praying for them, and as opportunities arise, sharing the good news of Jesus with them.

Time Commitment

1-2 hours, once or twice a month.

Imago Dei Youth, Compass on Campus

Our hope is that students (Grades 6-12) not only understand who God is, but also know Him intimately and begin to experience God’s grace, love and power in their own lives. There are two different youth programs: 1) Imago Dei Youth that meets Sunday mornings and the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. 2) Compass on Campus, a middle school club that exists at each school in Downey.

Tasks

  • Caring and loving students, pointing them to Jesus in all things.

  • Helping/teaching/organizing activities for Sunday morning discipleship, Thursday night gathering, or special youth activity.

  • Helping/teaching/organizing activities for a middle school Compass on Campus meeting.

Time Commitment

One hour, once a week.
